Apple Engineering Champions Once Again....
Apple Engineering retain the first division title at the Hull City 5’s Corporate Indoor League at the Gemtec Arena in the KC Stadium. After spending the first ten weeks of Season 6 at the top of the first division table, the Apple five a side team went into the final game 3 points behind the current leaders Capel Coch. The lads all put in a magnificent performance and won a tight game against a very competitive opposition 8 – 5. We finished Season 6 on the same points as Capel Coch but took the first division title with a much better goal difference of +76 compared to Capel Coch on +55. All credit to Capel Coch, the season’s statistics show how close the race was and they matched us point for point throughout the campaign. However, they fell at the final hurdle and Apple Engineering remain Tuesday Division 1 Indoor Champions for Season 6 2008.

STARS OF GERMAN TV SHOW An Apple Engineering Gateaux Production line recently installed at Gebrueder Hack OHG in Germany was the star of the show on a recent television program transmitted on the popular VOX TV Channel in Germany. The hour long program traced the history and heritage of the world famous Black Forrest Gateaux and confirmed it's reputation as King of Gateaux's. The Black Forest Gateaux (a brief history) The earliest combination of Cherries, Cream and Kirschwasser was probably not in the form of a cake but instead as a dessert. Cooked cherries would be served with cream and perhaps Kirschwasser. A cake combining cherries, biscuit and cream (but without Kirschwasser) probably originated in Switzerland. Today, the Canton of Zug is world-renowned for its Zuger Kirschtorte, which is a biscuit-based cake formerly oozing with Kirschwasser. A version from the Canton of Basle also exists. The confectioner Josef Keller claims to have invented Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte in its present form in 1915 in the then prominent Café Agner in Godesberg. This claim, however, has never been substantiated. Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte was first mentioned in writing in 1934. At this time it was known especially in Berlin as well as at good confectioners in German, Austrian and Swiss cities. In 1949 it took 13th place in the list of best-known German cakes. From this time onwards, Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte became world-renowned as the Black Forest Gateaux we know today. Click Here to view an edited version of the TV Program.
